God With Us

If God hovered over and interacted with the chaos 13.8 billion years ago (Gen 1:2)... over and with the chaos of Mary's life 2,000 years ago (Luke 1:35)... isn’t it possible he's with us in the uncertainty of politics, the crisis of ecology, the out of control-ness of racism, and the fear of COVID now?

You and I are invited to lay down our fear, stop trying to control, and be liberated from our anxiety. If we recognize the Spirit is hovering over us, even more, is willing to partner with us in the midst of our chaos, something miraculous and new could be birthed in our world.

Obviously many people are trying to be “safe” (in quotes because is there really such a thing?) but the trick is to do it in a way that doesn’t force us into tribalistic isolation; render us incapable of seeing our brother and sister. We need people who can reach out beyond their masks (literal and metaphorical) and really see others. God with us means there is hope.
