Love is the Only Reality

The corona virus hasn't caused the anxiety we feel in our world… it's pulled back the curtain to reveal the anxiety that's been there all along. It reminds us that we never really deal with our unrest.

Sometimes I think Christians deal with unrest even less than non-Christians because we aren't supposed to have anxiety. We're supposed to be overcomers. And we are overcomers, but not because Jesus has done some magic and quickly fixed everything, but because Jesus exposed our obsession with magic and quick fixes.

Living on the way of Jesus frees us up to be who we are... plain, beautiful, vulnerable, mysterious, anxious, non-magic humans.

Yes, may this virus burn out quickly, but may it also burn up our false notions of living a life of security. I mean, what is secure? Nothing. Not even love. Love is the most vulnerable thing in the universe.

So, let's hope and pray and give our lives away in love. Love is the only reality.
