Self-fulfilling Rhetoric

In every single election, both smart and less-than-smart people find reasons to vote for winning and losing candidates. We have to figure out how to be patient and dialogue even if our vote winds up being cast for the losing candidate.

Those of us stoking end-of-the-world rhetoric over who gets elected are misguided at best, insecure and dangerous at worst, for the more we shout such dramatic and inflammatory words, the more likely it becomes self-fulfilling. We should all be careful of how we see the world … that's how it really becomes.

Let's do our best, gain insight, and speak our minds, but be kind and reject the temptation to reduce everything down to one election or one anything. Life is too complex for that approach. If love is patient, we can do this. (If love isn’t patient … well, then we’re in trouble.)
